Underground Electrical Utility Technician

The Underground Utility Technician at Omni Electric is responsible for reading prints and specifications for all aspects of underground utilities including installation, wiring, and concrete work. In addition, this role is responsible for operating and overseeing dirt work such as excavation, directional boring, trenching, etc. This individual will also be a key manager on the jobsite, overseeing as many as 10 employees at a time. The main responsibilities include:
Installation of underground electrical system and infrastructure: installing conduits, wiring, concrete utility structures, etc.
Operating equipment such as excavators, backhoes, skid loaders, trenchers, directional boring equipment, etc.
Collaborate closely and maintain effective communication with jobsite personnel, clients, and other key stakeholders
Ensuring the job is being completed on time and within budget, including accurate execution of blueprints and electrical code
Ensure correct electrical testing is completed to comply with standards and that all documentation is recorded correctly and in a timely manner
Maintaining a safe working environment, following safety procedures and ensuring team members are also
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the industrial electrical industry required
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in electrical or related industry
Journeyman License required
Strong communication skills
Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
Valid driver’s license and deemed insurable by the Company’s insurance
Strong aptitude of equipment operation
This position is a full-time position (Monday - Friday) and is an hourly position with full benefits: health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
