Commercial / Industrial Electrician

The Commercial Electrician role at Omni Electric performs installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the commercial, agricultural, and industrial industries.

 

The main responsibilities of this position are:

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment in an industrial environment.

  • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure the ongoing functionality of electrical systems and machinery.

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the layout of wiring and electrical components.

  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system components.

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, circuit breakers, switches, relays, and control systems.

  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as engineers and maintenance technicians, to ensure effective communication and coordination during installation and repair projects.

  • Adhere to safety standards and protocols to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries.

  • Keep abreast of advancements in electrical technology and industry best practices to enhance job performance and efficiency.


The ideal candidate for the Commercial/Industrial Electrician position has the following education and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program or technical training in electrical systems preferred.

  • Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician or similar role in an industrial setting.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, components, and safety regulations.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

This position is a full-time position (Monday - Friday) and is an hourly position with full benefits: health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
